Bars, restaurants etc in the UK now officially closed. I'm working from home too. Balls on toilet paper, I'm stocking up on booze. Spoke to my dad last night - in his 70s, he & my stepmother have their own fucking seats in the hospital they're there so often...and he's off to play golf with his old duffer buddies today. JFC.

Pubs, clubs, bars closed here now too. All those idiot backpackers partying on Bondi Beach last Friday helped convince the politicians that harsher restrictions on movement were needed. Schools still open in my state, but our Premier said this morning people should keep kids home if they can. I work from home normally anyhow, but my work (I am a freelance real estate copywriter) has pretty much dried up already.

And, I'm with roscoe. Got two cases of wine and some beer (for my husband) getting delivered this afternoon. Might as well have some fun.

i nearly snapped the head off of a grocery worker trying to "help" me today by leaning directly into my face with her face. i know they're under a lot of strain, but she sincerely didn't think a bit about trying to peer directly into my tonsils. cheese and crackers!

Yeah, I've had a couple of similar experiences when out and about. I notice one of my local supermarkets has put spacers on the floor of the checkout area , to guide and remind people to stand 1.5 m apart. That seemed to be working well. They had also installed plastic screens separating customers and staff at the registers, all the staff were wearing masks and gloves, and there were these pretty snazzy hygiene stations with hand wash and paper towels at every entrance and exit. It felt a bit like grocery shopping in a hospital, but it was reassuring.

I have officially been sent home from work until further notice. Not much I can do from home. I've been exercising a lot. Nothing is open so I don't have much else to do. Hope all of you stay safe.

We only have 3 (I am one of them) of the 22 employees working in our office, otherwise everyone is working from home at this point.

What's everyone doing to keep from going insane? I walked over 10 miles yesterday. My 5 year old is loving it. He thinks it is the best thing ever. He doesn't have to go to school, mom gets to stay home from work everyday, and he gets to play all day with his big sisters. The 15 and 17 year old not so much. They've been doing a lot of puzzle, paying board games, reading, and play a lot of nintendo and legos with the little one. I am still at work, so most of my day is business as usual (with just a lot less people at the office).

Doesn't really affect me as I'm currently going through chemo again, so my desire to go anywhere is about zero to begin with, but it's ridiculous people didn't take this upon themselves a week and a half ago.

Our entire country was put on lockdown yesterday - everyone to stay inside their houses except for essential services (which really does mean ESSENTIAL - couple of businesses, like one of our big-box retailers, tried to claim they were essential and were swiftly told where to go by the Prime Minister).
I've been working from home all week anyway - thought that it would be a big challenge with a toddler and a small baby in the house but it's going ok so far. Kind of wish that I didn't have a job where I can work from home as I'd like to be able to play guitar, watch movies and TV, read books, do stuff that needs to be done around the house but not complaining - at least I've got a job that's secure, I know a lot of people don't. I have a 14 year old as well who lives with me half the time, but we decided it would be best for him to be at his mum's place - that's going to be really hard for me though as this order is going to be in place for at least 4 weeks and I'm not going to see him in person until its over. Calling him and doing video chats every day though.
The images on the news last night of our roads and cities were crazy - it looked like the start of 28 Days Later. Absolutely nobody around and motorways completely clear.
We're a bit ahead of a lot of the world and I think that we've really got the timing right on this - the number of cases over the last week started increasing noticeably - we're up to 283 cases now, just a few days ago it was about 50 cases. Nobody has died yet thankfullly. Until a couple of days ago every case was able to be tied to somebody returning from overseas, but there have been a few in the last couple of days that no connection could be made, so definitely seems that some community spread has happened which justifies the lockdown.
