So, is everyone freaking out about this in your part of the world? We're airlifting Australian citizens out of Wuhan today and there is talk of banning flights from China. As pandemics go, it seems like it might end up being worse than SARS back in 2003.

lol yeah, there are some pretty edgy coronavirus memes going around at the moment. The name doesn't quite inspire the appropriate level of fear. EBOLA. Now that's a scary sounding disease.

Chemists and even hardware stores have sold out of those paper surgical masks here. So plenty of people are worried. I heard that masks are mostly useless anyway (designed to stop you infecting someone, not the other way round) but I guess people think its better than nothing. I'm not personally too concerned either.

Weve got 12 confirmed cases nationally. The government just banned flights from China last night.

We had the first one in the US about 5 miles from my house. He's still at the hospital.

My news this morning said Delta, American, and United (the big three airlines here) had stopped flying there

I'm not too worried about it. A lot of people are taking precautions where I am though.

Some flights banned here in New Zealand yeah. Don't think that we have any confirmed cases but there are some people in quarantine who have been flown back from China.
Personally, I'm not worried about it until there are confirmed cases - and then, I'll only be worried if it hits my city (when I would start to be a little concerned just because I have a 2 month old baby at home).

Looks like Australia and NZ are beginning to co-ordinate joint evacuations of their citizens evacuations from China. Makes sense.

I work at a boarding school that has a lot of students from China. The school is already trying to make arrangements for places the students can stay since they won't likely be able to go home for spring break
