Looks like Australia and NZ are beginning to co-ordinate joint evacuations of their citizens evacuations from China. Makes sense. I read that as joint executions... ðŸ¤

I guess that would be a pretty sure way of reducing the risk of infection....

Honestly, I think the most worrisome aspect of this outbreak is the fact that the Chinese are probably not telling the rest of us the true extent of the problem.

the only thing worse than the virus is the racist reactions to the virus - hate crimes against asians are on the rise and business at chinese restaurants is down

Yeah, the same thing is happening here. A lot of the Lunar New Year celebrations have been cancelled in Chinatown, and retail sales in suburbs with a large Chinese population have plummeted.
In a related note, a friend of ours owns a pharmacy. He was saying that paper/surgical mask manufacturers are price gouging ferociously since the virus broke out. A mask he was previously able to sell for about $2 each, he would now have to sell for $15 in order to make any profit.

The panic shopping is *insane.* My local supermarket was running low on hand sanitiser, disinfectant wipes, pasta and rice yesterday. Although, some people panic shop when the stores are closed for a long weekend here, so I'm not surprised at the reaction to this.
