If anyone is into true crime podcasts, I would recommend: Monster: DC Sniper Your Own Backyard To Live and Die in LA Culpable Up and Vanished (definitely Season 1 - that's what got me started) The Lighthouse Who the Hell is Hamish? Bear Brook (so good) The Teacher's Pet thanks for the suggestions! i think someone here once recommended a ten part series about the manson murders that you must remember this did - i really liked it - would recommend it as well

I am currently listening to Hell and Gone, which is a good investigative journalism podcast.
Also - Cold. All about Josh Powell and the disappearance of Susan Powell. So fucking good. I think it was mentioned on TBY before it went down, but I'm tossing it a nod again here.

In the true crime stakes, I'll second Bear Brook, To Live and Die in LA and Teacher's Pet - all fantastic.
I also really enjoyed: Dr Death (about a surgeon who continually butchered his patients and just kept getting away with it) The Shrink Next Door (about a psychiatrist who takes over one of his patients lives for about 30 years) In The Dark (Season 2 in particular, which is ongoing because there are continually big developments in this case) Running From Cops (which looks at the TV show Cops, and asks questions about how ethical it is) Bag Man (Rachel Maddow podcast about Spiro Agnew, vice-president to Nixon - really interesting) Slow Burn (S1 is about Richard Nixon/Watergate, S2 is about the impeachment of Clinton, and S3 is about the murders of Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. - interesting change in direction for the third season, but it was good)f Coffee and Flowers (a podcast about The National - basically a couple of uber-fans analysing the album Boxer song-by-song. I assume there's going to be more but they're on a break for now) America Dissected (an insightful look into the American health care system - each episode looks at something different - eg Anti-vaxers, Big Pharma, the cult of wellness, the opiod crisis etc) Truth and Lies - Jeffrey Epstein - what it sounds like

Then, she kind of let it trail off and hasn't put anything out recently.

Season 2 has a whole episode about the Arkansas medical examiner Fahmy Malak. It's funny because another podcast I listen to, True Crime Garage, covers the Boys on the Tracks case in depth, and they also go into Fahmy Malak during that. The guy botched so many autopsies, it's insane.

For anyone who listened to The Teacher's Pet podcast - Chris Dawson today has been committed to stand trial in Sydney for the murder of his wife Lynn. She disappeared some 40 years ago.

Song Exploder is fantastic - one episode every two weeks, each one is an artist talking through one of their songs (like the writing/recording/production of it etc). Gives you a really good insight into different creative processes, as a songwriter I find it really interesting but I think anyone would enjoy it. I get really excited whenever a new episode becomes available, wondering if it's a song that I love already (plenty of them have been). I listen to it regardless of if I know the song or not though, and I've gotten into a couple of artists that way. Sometimes I go back and listen to episodes again. Episodes I've enjoyed a lot were: R.E.M. - Try Not To Breathe Semisonic - Closing Time (always loved this song, but never realised it had so much more meaning to it than what appears on the surface) Big Thief - Cattails Phoebe Bridgers - Scott Street Stranger Things Theme Tune Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way Courtney Barnett - Depreston Lorde - Sober St Vincent - New York Fleet Foxes - Mearcstapa Phoenix - Ti Amo I LOVE song exploder but I was blown away by the Fleetwood Mac episode. That song was made SO many years ago - I just couldn't believe Lindsay could remember the recording process well enough to talk about it in such detail. Plus, they were infamous for the insane amount of time they spent in the studio, so that makes it even more amazing that he remembered detail. In that podcast I love hearing the different parts of the song (the drums, the bass, a single guitar line of many, the backing vocals) in isolation. It's fascinating. I also enjoyed the CHURCHES episode, and that's not a band I would normally listen to.
